Parking spaces in Qormi Health Centre after the refurbishment

Hon. Health Minister,

MUMN is writing to your office regarding the deceitfulness of the CEO of Primary care Ms. Camilleri.

See emails below…When MUMN wrote to her office on the 22nd February 2024  that the refurbishment should not effect the parking in Qormi Health Centre, the reply of Ms. Camilleri was deceitful and evasive (see below). She did not have the guts to say the truth to any Nursing management or to the nurses working in Qormi Health Centre, that ALL PARKING WILL BE LOST. The truth should have been told but it was too shameful to say the truth when MUMN wrote to her on the 22nd February 2024.

When MUMN wrote to her office, she was aware of the situation and was evasive by her replying “that all staff will be treated Equal” (see email below).

She left all Qormi staff in the dark and her poor planning is more than evident when she allowed the electric generator to be placed in basement, ruining all parking spaces for staff and patients when such generator could have easily been placed on the roof as what has taken place in other Health Centres such Bormla and Mosta Health Centre.

Being deceitful with the nurses and the patients is uncalled for and shows that the current CEO is unfit to be a CEO. A refurbishment is meant to improve the existing services such as the parking of the staff and the patients and not ruin what has been always in place.

Therefore, as a symbolic protest MUMN is order the following:

As from 22nd April 2024:

  1. All Nursing staff are to wear black T-Shirts.
  2. All Primary Health Centre Logos both inside the Health Centre and Outside the Health Centre are to be covered.
  3. Identification Badges are not to be worn by nurses.
  4. Nurses are to boycott the office of the CEO by not replying to any correspondence or telephone calls.
  5. When the CEO attends the Qormi Health Centre, all nurses are to leave the Health Centre unless a life threatening situation is in place in Qormi Health Centre.
  6. This email will be sent to all Primary Care, members of MUMN so they would know the poor planning being done when refurbishment is to take place, with no involvement of the nursing staff in her decisions, similar to what has taken place recently in Rabat Health were there even the nurses were left in the dark.
  7. MUMN will expose to the public that her refurbishment caused the elimination of the ONLY Health Centre which had a designated parking areas for patients and the staff used to benefit.

The Nursing staff working in Qormi health Centre clearly stated that they were better off before the refurbishment and such refurbishment deteriorated the nurses’ and patients’ conditions.

The strong rumours which have always circulated in Primary Health Care that the CEO consults only her Inner Kitchen and totally ignores the Nursing Management, and the Nurses in the Health Centre were proven right. Repeatedly all refurbishment is always done by ignoring the expert advise of the nurses working in the Health Centre with the result that the refurbishment causes more harm than good.
