Affiliations

MUMN is affiliated with several local, European and International organisations. Being part of these organisations gives Malta and Gozo exposure and strengthens our position globally by allowing us to give and receive feedback on decisions and policies regarding healthcare professionals.

 

International Affiliations

 

International Council of Nurses - The ICN represents nursing worldwide, advance the nursing profession, promote the well being of nurses, and advocate for health in all policies. It’s vision is that the global community recognizes, supports, and invests in nurses and nursing to lead and deliver health for all.

The Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation - The Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation (CNMF), founded in 1973, is a federation of national nursing and midwifery associations in Commonwealth countries.

The European Midwives’ Association – The European Midwives’ Association is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation of midwives, representing midwifery organisations and associations from the member states of the European Union (EU), members of the Council of Europe, the European Economic Area (EEA) and EU applicant countries.

The European Federation of Nurses Association - The European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN), former Standing Committee of Nurses of the EU (PCN), was established in 1971 to represent the nursing profession and its interests to the European Institutions, based on the nursing education and free movement Directives being drafted by the European Commission then. Representing more than one million nurses over 36 National Nurses Associations at European Level, the EFN is the independent voice of the nursing profession. Its official working language is English.

Local Affiliations

The National Council of Women - The National Council of Women of Malta was founded in 1964. It is a non-governmental organization comprising individual members and national organizations  The National Council of Women provides a forum for women of different backgrounds and experiences to come together as individuals and as representatives of affiliated organizations, to exchange information and ideas, formulate policy, educate and promote change

 

For.U.M - The Forum Union Maltin is a confederation of Maltese Unions which was established in 2004. The confederation immediately started contributing on a national scale when it was involved in discussions with the Maltese Government and other Unions on a way forward to reach an agreement on the social pact. Today the For.U.M. has eleven Union affiliates with a total membership of 12,000 workers from different professions and spheres. The Unions affiliated in For.U.M are AAE, ALPA, EPOU, MUMNMUT, UCC, UHBC, UMASA, UPAP, UPISP, and UTAC. They represent workers from all the spectrum of the Maltese society. The confederation participates actively in all national debates and activities that concern the conditions and right of workers and their families.
