The Health Division clearly does not respect the work and does not recognize the dedication of the phlebotomists, DSAs and the DSTs. This is evident since the Health Division has chosen the path to take the union to a court, having a very false pretext that the court will dishearten you and will make the union weaker. How wrong was the Health Division!!!. Now that the decision of the mandatory issue has been issued, MUMN is once again fighting so that the DSAs, DSTs and the Phlebotomists will have a decent sectorial agreement. Progression and increase in allowances with CPD is still being requested strongly as ever.

 

To this end the following directives are to come into force with immediate effect:

 

DSTs:

 

1)     All tests on all machines in CSSD are to be done (as by the decree of the court)  but all form sheets are not to be signed, nor dated since no proper review is being done by the scientific officer.

2)     All packs not from MDH are to be refused. Such directive is being issued due to lack of DSTs and so that DSTs can concentrate better on life saving operations in MDH.

3)     Due to the lack of DSTs all packs for Cataracts……are to be refused since such operations are not lifesaving.

4)     Due to the lack of DSTs all packs for TKR  which are never urgent and classified by MDH on the waiting list are not to be done so that DSTs can concentrate more of their work on life saving operations.

5)     Due to sever lack of DSTs, all DSTs are instructed to work slowly and not hurriedly so that all packs are truly up to standard and safe to the patients in MDH.

6)     All DSTs are not to reply to any phone calls or reply to any emails to concentrate better on the providing packs for life saving operations.

 

 

Oncology Phlebotomy clinic:

1)     Not to answer any phone calls or emails.

2)     No walk ins.

3)     LIS is not to be used.

4)     Oncology patients with appointments are to excluded from directives.

 

 

Phlebotomists ACC Clinic:

1)     INR are to be excluded from directives.

2)     All phlebotomists in ACC are to take up to 8 patients including the INRs.

3)     Nurses in the ACC clinic are not to act as strike breakers and therefore they are to take only 8 patients also.

4)     Not to answer any phone calls or emails.

 

Phlebotomists on the wards of MDH:  are only to take 8 patients per phlebotomist per day.

 

Phlebotomists in the Primary Health: are only to do 8 cases a day per phlebotomist per day.

 

 

Dental Surgery Assistants and DSTs working in the Dental setting in MDH.

 

1)     Only emergency cases and with special needs are to be assisted by the DSAs.

2)     Packs related to emergency and with special needs are to be sterilized by the DSTs in the Dental settings.

 

 

All directives will come into effect on the 13^th October 2021 at 7.00 am
