Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital Directives

Notice to all nurses working in KGH

Published 18th January 2023

MUMN had been informed that Steward Health Care had recruited another 5 new nurses making the tally to ten new nurses.

Due to an improvement of nurse to patient ratio in KGH, MUMN is easing the directive from 22 beds per ward to 26 beds per ward.

This shows clearly that when the nurse-to-patient ratio issues are addressed, MUMN is a responsible union and eases directives when the management takes action. Such increase in bed state will commence on Monday, the 23rd January 2023.

Directive To all Nurses working in KGH

Published 15th September 2022

MUMN has send two emails to the Health Department since the shortage of nurses in KGH is not being addressed at all. MUMN cannot allow such shortage of nurses which is at the detriment of the nurses working in KGH. MUMN had expected that after two consecutive emails from MUMN to the Health Department, the Health Department should have organized a meeting with all stakeholders to address the recruitment of nurses in KGH.

Unfortunately, not even an acknowledgment was send let along a reply from the Health Department.

KGH was the only hospital not to receive any new recruitment of nurses and since no reply was given to MUMN, it is clear that KGH hospital is to remain with no new recruitment of nurses even though there are over 50 nursing vacancies.

Therefore, MUMN is issuing a directive that on 20th September 2022, the bed state in all wards is not to exceed 22 patients in any ward in KGH.

Industrial Directive to All Nurses at RW1 RHKG

Published 11th May 2021

It is not acceptable to MUMN to have an ineffective management who plays down serious offenses on the nurses and then tries to intimidate staff so not to contact their union. If this is the “famous” management by Steward Health Care then it shows the standards are far well below the par of the Government hospitals as regards to management procedures. Read More

Meal Allowances Directives

Published 24th August 2020

MUMN Council made several attempts to provide the same meal allowance given to the Healthcare workers in Malta to the Health care workers working in GGH, SLH and KGH. MUMN tried to organise a meeting where all stake holders will be around a table to finalize the new tariffs of the meal allowances. Unfortunately, both Steward and the Health Division never accepted the call for the meeting to discuss the meal allowances for you, as Health care workers working in GGH, SLH and KGH. Read More

Speech Language Liability Forms

Published 25th February 2020

MUMN have made every effort to remove the liability of the Speech Language Liability Forms from all the Nursing Grades. The fact that such forms can lead to  nurses  being summoned to the Police station, interrogated and taken to court when nurses are not to blame, is unacceptable for MUMN. Read More
