There was never an agreement that S5 are to ophthalmic day cases. In fact there is a long existing directive that surgical wards are not to admit any day cases even if the day cases are ophthalmic cases.

 

All day surgery is to be done at the day surgery unit. S5 is not an ophthalmic ward and such day cases disrupted the normal running of a surgical ward.

 

This was never discussed nor agreed with MUMN.

As from tomorrow the 1st September, S5 is not to accept any ophthalmic day cases.
