Directive to all Nurses working in MCH re Admissions of Infective Cases

MUMN is aware that admissions of infective patients are being done by certain doctors without the authorization of infection control, nor MCH nursing management, nor MCH management.

Such admissions are being done at the detriment of the Health and safety of the patients of the ward and most importantly of nursing staff on the wards.

Since the management of MCH nor the medical profession at MCH are NOT considering the huge implications of such infective cases on the staff, nor making an adequate risk assessment of the situation on the wards in MCH, MUMN is issuing  directives with immediate effect:

  • That all nurses are to refuse infective cases if not approved by Infection Control with MCH nursing management.
  • If such admission still take place all nurses are to abandon the ward, leaving only one nurse on the ward for CPR duties ONLY.

MUMN is registering such a dispute since it is clear that the admission criteria for MCH is not agreed with MUMN and that such admissions are also bypassing the nursing management, infection control and MCH management.
