Directive to all Nurses working in SVP regarding Overtime

Directive to all Nurses working in SVP regarding Overtime

It is not acceptable to MUMN that nurses working in SVP are not being allowed to work part time or overtime in other Health Institutions including MDH. This does not hold ground giving the fact that the current Covid numbers are so low both Malta and Gozo. This is then compounded by the fact that all SVP health care workers can go and travel abroad and return to work without swabbing or without any form of quarantine.

Not to mention, and this is the crux of the matter, that consultants in MDH and other health care professionals are being allowed to work in other hospitals, seeing their private patients in various clinics without any issues whatsoever. This country cannot run with two weights and two measures even if these Public Health issues. Public Health directions cannot be aimed to one only specific sector at the discrimination of the workers working in that sector. After all SVP nurses did not receive any special remuneration due to Covid.

Seeing this type of scenario in the country, MUMN is issuing a directive to all its members working in SVP to work overtime or part time in any health institution they deem fit, including MDH and to continue working in SVP. Such directive is with immediate effect. After all doctors and consultants in MDH were always  allowed to continue practising their private practise even in the height of the Covid, let along now having the numbers of covid cases being at a low count.
